Where the dashboard numbers come from

Updated: September 22, 2026

WeatherRadarNow displays third-party weather information. It operates no weather stations, radar network or forecasting model. The descriptions below explain what this dashboard requests and how it presents the results.

Weather and air quality

Current, hourly and daily fields come from Open-Meteo’s forecast API. Current conditions are model-based estimates for the selected location. Air quality is requested separately through the Open-Meteo air-quality API and uses the US AQI scale.

Reading the displayed fields

Time and display choices

The hourly graph samples every second hour over the next 24 hours. The daily strip displays five days. The current-data label includes the provider date and the location’s timezone; it is a data-validity time, not a claim that a local instrument was just read. Refreshing the page does not force the upstream model to issue a new forecast.

Places and device location

City matching uses Open-Meteo geocoding. Optional device coordinates are also sent to OpenStreetMap Nominatim for a nearby place name. The browser’s accuracy radius describes the position fix, not the resolution or accuracy of the forecast model. See location and storage details.

Network errors and limits

A fresh search clears the previous readings. If a weather request fails, the dashboard reports an error instead of substituting an offline forecast. Cached site pages can still open without current data. Fine-scale rain, terrain and urban conditions may differ from a model estimate. This dashboard does not display live radar imagery or issue official severe-weather alerts.

For an example of how these distinctions affect interpretation, see the dashboard reading guide. Official local weather warnings take priority for safety decisions.
